history & info
After reaching the top of the lift hill, your car zig zags back and forth around some very tight turns before dropping down a few hills, through the Mouse House and jolting at each of the brakes placed in several spots along the track.
This particular model was the first built in America. It stands on the same location where the old wooden Wild Mouse stood from 1973-1989. Lagoon received many inquiries about the demise of one of their favorite rides so this new steel version was added in 1998. The Mouse House was added a year or two later. The new Wild Mouse is taller and has a queue beginning at the back of the ride instead of in front like the old Wild Mouse. It's not nearly as wild as the old one, but it's probably much safer. The mouse which stands at the northeast corner of the ride, looking through a magnifying glass, may have been salvaged from the previous ride.
Maurer-Söhne began in 1876 in Munich, Germany. Along with designing and manufacturing rides, they also specialize in steel construction and mechanical engineering. Maurer-Söhne also designed The Spider.
