history & info
The ride begins as the ship starts gently swinging back and forth. Then the ship starts going higher and higher on each swing. Riders in the outermost rows will get the biggest thrill out of the ride.
Tidal Wave was built where the loading dock for the Water Skeeters had been from 1971-1979. In 1980, a new dock for the Water Skeeters was built on the northeast corner of Lagoon Lake. The large iron gate used as the entrance was kept in place and used as a gate for Tidal wave until 1989 or the early 90s. After the 2006 season, Tidal Wave was taken apart so it could be repainted and rebuilt for 2007.
Huss Maschinenfabrik is a German company that began in 1919 producing ship equipment. They ventured into making amusement rides in 1969 and it is now their only business. Other Huss rides that have operated at Lagoon include Centennial Screamer, Cyclone, Tri-Star, UFO and The Whirlwind.
