POST OFFICE

A typical post office complete with post office boxes. Also on display here is an old safe and vintage Utah postcards.
"This Post Office building is a fine example of practical, rural architecture. It was built in 1905 in Charlesto, Wasatch County, Utah and was used until 1955.
This small, frame-construction building with its dome-shaped front, had all the area required to serve the community efficiently. On display is the original Postmaster's large, locking desk. The Postmaster would be concealed behind the walls of postal boxes, each with their own combination lock. He would communicate with his customers through the teller window.
Charleston was typical of many rural Utah towns in that its citizens had no mail delivery until quite recently, so it was necessary to pick up mail from personal postal boxes."
