history & info
This ride is not included in any Ride Passport so first you must buy your tickets inside the Pit Row souvenir shop, which is also the entrance to the track. This is located between Boomerang and Paratrooper on the South Midway. You'll choose from the Lightning Track or the Thunder Track. For the most part, they offer similar experiences. The tracks wind through and over bridges and around hairpin turns.
Double Thunder Raceway is the least expensive of the X-Venture Zone rides. The cars are powered by Honda engines while the body styles are based on Dodge cars. Watch how you drive because the guys in the control tower can control the speed of the cars by radio.
Before the raceway was built, the concrete grandstand used for rodeos was located here. It was built around 1970 for the rodeos held north of the park. They were torn down in October 1998 to make room for this ride.
J&J Amusements is a go-kart manufacturer located in Salem, Oregon.
