FARMINGTON -- The frights come faster than a roller coaster as Lagoon's new season of Frightmares opens Friday.
The park will open at 6 p.m. Fridays and 11 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 29. For the Utah Education Association school break Oct. 20 and 21, admission also begins at 11 a.m.
Frightmares' attractions are spider-rated, with one-spider events considered nonscary and appropriate for all ages, and four-spider events deemed "very scary."
Children's attractions include storytime with Wendy the Witch, Scary & Crow's Straw Maze and the Spook-A-Boo Walk-thru.
Older folks can try to find their way through the Labyrinth, 15 rooms of mystery and fright, or Psycho Dave's Junkyard, a maze of amusement park "junk."
The Fun House of Fear is populated by "dementedly clever clowns," and the Nightmare Midway is haunted by eerie spirits in a deranged carnival.
The Labyrinth, Fun House of Fear and Nightmare Midway open at 6 p.m. on Fridays and 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The junkyard opens at 6 p.m. daily.
Entertainment includes hypnotist Alan Sands, the Zombie Mambo and the Hackenslash Chainsaw Demonstration Team. New this year are the Wailin' Witches, a rhythm and blues group of witches and warlocks performing Salem-style entertainment.
Many of Lagoon's amusement park rides are also open during Frightmares, as is Pioneer Village.
Tickets are $24.95 for adults (age 4-64), $13.95 for ages 3 and under, and $20.25 for seniors.
