FARMINGTON — Family gathered around Lagoon’s sky scraper to ride along side their 97-year-old great-great-grandmother to fulfill her birthday wish of riding the “ferris wheel” at Lagoon. “Every time we passed Lagoon my mother said she wanted to ride on the ferris wheel,” said Jane Rae Smith, daughter to Vontella Farr who just turned 97. With seven kids, 35 grandchildren, 107 great grandchildren, and 14 great great grandchildren, Vontella, who also went on the Merry-go-round and train, is still in good enough shape enjoy the rides.

Spinning in the gondola as she circled in the sky scraper, Vontella said smiling, “I just wanted to go cause I had forgotten what it was like.”
